Charities

The Nailsworth Brewery tries to help out where it can and to that end it is not unkown for us to donate beer to good causes.

Our favourite local charities are:

Pump Clip Artists

We love the original artworks done for our pump clips...

Nicola Grellier:
Town Crier & Dudbridge Donkey.

Rob Rowland:
Artist's Ale, Mayor's Bitter, Vicar's Stout, Old Rocky.

Pump Clips

It is rare for a week to go by without us getting a nice E-Mail or even a letter requesting that we send the originator of said communication a pump clip or two. If we responded positively to every request, we would soon be broke.

So, if you would like a pump clip, please send us £2.50 to cover costs of purchase, postage and packaging and we will send you the pump clip(s) of your choice.

Homebrew Ingredients

If you are a homebrew enthusiast and would like some proper ingredients for your full mash brews, why not contact Jon the Brewer by E-Mail and see what ingredients he can offer you at very reasonable prices.

Glos Craft Brewers

The Nailsworth Brewery is proud to be part (indeed, a founder member) of the merry band of 8 brewers that is the 'Gloucestershire Craft Brewers'. Despite being in competition with each other and wishing a plague of frogs on each other's breweries, we actually get on quite well, meet up once a month for a beer (what else?) and work together to promote good quality local ales.

Should your pub, organisation or festival want a Gloucestershire themed beer festival, or just some bl**dy good beer, then we can arrange for a selection of our beers to be delivered anywhere in the Country. Contact Jon the Brewer for more details.

More Stuff to Follow...

Stuff, stuff, stuff......stuff, stuff

Alestock (3.6% ABV)

Beer Style
Our double Gold Medal winning beer! This, my favourite beer, is light in colour and more hoppy than a caffeine fuelled bunny on a bouncy castle. At 3.6% abv, you could sit back and drink this one all day. Full of Elderflower notes. Lager drinkers, you might like this one.

The Name
Brewed as a one off for Nailsworth's Nailstock People's Festival. However, it proved too popular to be consigned to the brewery archives and continues as a regular beer.

The Artist's Ale (3.9% ABV)

Beer Style
Probably my favourite beer! Light in colour but high in taste, this hoppy, zingy, tangy thirst quenching bitter is full of citrus flavours. A refreshingly more-ish session beer.

The Name
Named after renowned artist Nicola Grellier who did all our original artwork free of charge.

The Mayor's Bitter (4.2% ABV)

Beer Style
No medals yet, but my favourite beer continues to be our biggest seller. A traditional 'best' bitter, slightly fruity on a malty base and very welcoming; a beer that your granddad would recognise and love.

The Name
When the idea of a pub & brewery in the village was first mused, the Town Council & in particular the (then) Mayor was very much against it. However, planning was granted and to show we were not 'bitter', we named a beer after the good lady!

Old Rocky (4.4% ABV)

Beer Style
CAMRA Champion Beer of Gloucestershire 2009 and my favourite beer! This 'IPA' has much 'grapefruitiness' flavour as we could squeeze into a pint glass. The perfect beer to accompany breakfast!

The Name
Originally brewed to help launch the Green Party's (South West) Euro Election as a one-off and called 'The Green Knight'. This popular brew was subsequently renamed after Michael 'Rocky' Holbrow; Nailsworth's 'National' treasure. (Note: Other political parties are available)

The Town Crier (4.7% ABV)

Beer Style
A traditional 'premium ale'. However, not too heavy on the palate. Dark, Rich & fruity with lots of malty flavours. One to be savoured rather than rushed.

The Name
"Oh Yey! Oh Yey! My favourite beer!" Dressed in his red coat and britches and carrying his bell, Tony Evans has become a familiar site in Nailsworth over the years, his appearances brightening up the town and putting smiles on the faces of all those who see him.

Our Seasonal Beers

These beers shall be available when specified.

Spring: The Dudbridge Donkey (3.6% ABV)

Beer Style
Bring Back Mild! Sweet, dark & malty with enough 'hop' to give this 'mild' more interest than most.

The Name
A trip down memory lane back to the halcyon days of yesteryear. Days when local poet W.H.Davies was 'standing and staring' and days when a steam engine (affectionately known as The Dudbridge Donkey) chugged lazily along the valley between Dudbridge and Nailsworth.

Winter:The Vicar's Stout (4.4% ABV)

Beer Style
Everything a traditional stout should be. Dark, rich, smokey, pleasantly bitter and very, very comforting.

The Name
The Vicar's Stout! Does it refer to him being circumferencely challenged or to what he's drinking? It's a play on words. get it?

Autumn: Funny Bones (4.4% ABV)

Beer Style
Something of the night about this Halloween/Bonfire night special. Dark & smoky, but don't be too afraid.
I wandered far into the wold,
And after the heat and the glare.
I came at eve to a churchyard old;
The yew-trees seemed at prayer.

The Name
Chosen by my daughter.

Winter: Winter Woolly (4.9% ABV)

Beer Style
Light the fire, get your slippers on and settle down with a good book to enjoy this porter which is more rich and fruity than a 'Waitrose' mince pie. (Please note: Other mince pies are available)

The Name
Couldn't call it a 'Winter Warmer' (far too common a name in the beer world) so went with the wool theme, it being winter and cold and woolly things keeping you warm.
